The roots of The Blind Sides are found in The Flints, the band that Aron and Stephen played in for several years as the rhythm section.
Aron was surprised when Stephen handed him the just-finished EP that he had recorded himself, playing virtually every instrument. A one-off show played by Aron, Nolan, Stephen, along with sister, Katherine and guitarist Matt Davies, officially welcomed that EP to the world. As a few years passed, Aron hounded Stephen almost weekly about continuing the project. When the dust settled and some space and time was found, Evan was brought in on guitar and the band got back to work with a dozen or so new songs that Stephen wrote.
More than resuming where he left off, these new songs extended past the old EP. Where the older songs were very much from and for a single voice and player, the new ones were realized by Scarrow and polished by the band as a whole.
Recording began ambitiously in December 2009 at Hallamusic where in the span of 12 hours, The Blind Sides hammered out 13 tracks. With the sad demise of Hallamusic, TBS focused first on rehearsal and live playing opposed to completing the album. Through playing these songs over the next year and change, most of them evolved until the old recordings no longer seemed current.
They found that the 5 songs on the Circles EP were still representative of the band and they quickly finished recording them at Green Door Studios in April of 2011.
The pile of tracks were sent to NYC where Grammy-award winning audio wizard, Greg Thompson put the pieces together. The result is/was Circles.
